We have been a supporter of the Hawaii County, Hawaii Fire Department Ocean Safety Jr. Lifeguard Program since 2011. The Alex & Duke De Rego Foundation has in the past, supported the Jr. Lifeguard Program by providing funding for travel and lodging accommodations for our Big Island Jr. Lifeguard kids to participate in the State Championship held every year on the outer islands.

In 2014 The Alex & Duke De Rego Foundation stepped up and assisted Hawaii County by providing our Certified Instructors to keep the Jr. Lifeguard summer program at Hapuna Beach State Park running when the Hawaii Fire Department Ocean Safety was short staffed.

Since the inception of our Water Safety & Ocean Awareness Education School Program the Alex & Duke De Rego Foundation continues to support the Jr. Lifeguard program on Hawai’i Island by providing prizes and drinks at the Big Island Championship Challenge held every year in July at Hapuna Beach State Park.
